“Someone who ch3ats once should be forgiven” — Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde speaks on infidelity in marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shared her views on marital infidelity, saying a ch3ating spouse may deserve forgiveness if the person genuinely regrets the action and demonstrates a willingness to change.

Speaking in an interview with Broadway TV, the mother of four argued that a first-time act of infidelity should not automatically mean the end of a marriage.

According to Omotola, couples should consider the circumstances surrounding the situation and determine whether the offending partner is genuinely remorseful and willing to make amends.

‘Forgiveness is possible’

The actress said:

“If someone ch3ats once, should they be forgiven? I would say yes, if they are genuinely remorseful and show that they have changed,” she stated.

However, Omotola acknowledged that repeated infidelity presents a different situation and may require couples to take a closer look at the underlying issues within the relationship.

She said:

‘’Someone who ch3ats once, should they forgive that kind of person? I would say yes if they are remorseful and show signs of change.
Should someone forgive a repeatedly cheating spouse? Why are they cheating? I think the problem these days is that we are very impatient. Yes, the scene is very bad but then, sometimes you need to access the situation.
One, who is this person really? Is that the only problem? Is this person perfect but just a cheat? Now you have to weigh options”

Omotola’s comments have sparked conversations about forgiveness, trust, accountability and the difficult decisions couples face when dealing with infidelity.

Her position suggests that while cheating can seriously damage a relationship, the decision to forgive or end a marriage may depend on the circumstances, the offender’s remorse and whether there is genuine evidence of change.
