Nollywood actor and media personality Uti Nwachukwu has joined the ongoing debate over allegations that wealthy women, particularly those in the entertainment industry, make their money through pr0$titution.

The controversy began after content creator Kemi Ikuseedun, popularly known as Mummy Wa, claimed during a podcast appearance that a majority of women in the entertainment industry make their money from pr0$titution.

Her claim sparked reactions from several social media personalities, including Tomama, popularly known as Dat Warri Girl.

Tomama challenges pr0$titution stereotype

Reacting to Mummy Wa’s claim, Tomama criticised what she described as society’s tendency to associate wealthy women with pr0$titution whenever people cannot determine their source of income.

She argued that women make money through various legitimate and illegitimate means and should not automatically be labelled as prostitutes because of their financial status.

Uti subsequently reacted to Tomama’s position, offering his own explanation for why he believes some people make such accusations.

He wrote:

“It’s because they are pro$titutes themselves and their anger na say dem no blow the way they feel say e blow women.”

Tomama responds

Tomama appeared to agree with Uti’s comment, responding simply:

“yes o.”

The exchange has added another dimension to the ongoing online debate about women, wealth and pr0$titution allegations, particularly within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

While some social media users have supported the argument that wealthy women are unfairly subjected to such stereotypes, others continue to debate the claims made by Mummy Wa and the responses that followed.
