“We aren’t here to co-exist” — Muslim man in U.K. sparks outrage with extremist claim

A video of a Muslim man in the UK making radical remarks about Islam went viral and sparked a lot of internet criticism.

The man in the video argued that Islam’s goal is to subjugate other religions and elevate the faith above all others, rejecting the idea of peaceful cooperation.

“Islam is here to rule, not to coexist.”
Concerns around radicalism and hate speech among diaspora communities have been rekindled by the recording, which has been extensively shared on social media.

The man, whose identity has not been independently confirmed, claimed that the idea of jihad justifies violence if it is required to expand Islam.

His statements have been characterised as radical and out of step with mainstream Islamic beliefs, which promote harmony and peace.

In 2022, similar extremist remarks in Europe sparked public discussions concerning the surveillance of radical ideology and national security alerts.

We don’t say that Islam is here to coexist with a lot of different religions that all of us can discuss how to be friends. This religion has been sent to dominate, to wipe out, to take out every other religion. To have the people leave every other religion and take up Islam, and if that requires fighting to achieve it, then it requires fighting, because the greatest purpose for which Jihad was legislated is to make the word of our Lord highest,” he said.

Religious authorities and community activists have denounced the remarks, emphasising that the great majority of Muslims live in harmony and tolerance.

The film emphasises the continued difficulties associated with radicalisation in Europe and emphasises the necessity of raising public awareness, fostering communal discussion, and keeping an eye out for extremist content on the internet.
