“He didn’t marry me because he loved me” — Woman leaves husband’s house after heated argument

A Nigerian woman has reportedly walked out of her matrimonial home after a heated argument with her husband, who allegedly told her she thinks like a poor person during a disagreement over whether to buy land or purchase a furnished house.

According to her friend, who has been accommodating her for five days, the quarrel started when the couple were discussing their plans to own a home.

The wife reportedly suggested buying land and building from scratch, while her husband insisted on buying a fully furnished house.

The argument reportedly intensified when the husband made hurtful comments about why he married her, claiming he did not marry her for love but because his parents pressured him to settle down.

The woman allegedly retaliated, calling her husband a “money miss road” and accusing him of changing after becoming rich.

Upset by the confrontation, the husband was said to have left their home and gone to his in-laws to report his wife.

However, instead of listening to her side, her parents allegedly told her to apologize to her husband and stop being stubborn.

She reportedly refused, maintaining that she would not apologize until her husband apologized for what he said.

The husband then reportedly told her that as the head of the household, she must either apologise or leave his house. She opted to leave.

According to her friend, the woman has since been planning to rent her own apartment and start a business.

The incident underscores the tensions that can emerge in marriages around money, respect, and decision-making, especially when couples clash over major financial decisions.

It also brings to light the role extended family members play in marital conflicts and the pressure some spouses face to apologise even when they feel they have been wronged.

It remains unclear what the current status of their relationship is and whether reconciliation is possible.

She reportedly has savings built up over several years that could help her start afresh on her own.
