The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has recovered the bodies of two passengers after a vehicle plunged into a river in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were retrieved from Ariyo River in Ona Ara Local Government Area on Friday, May 29, following a rescue operation conducted by officials of the agency.
According to reports, the vehicle, a Toyota Avensis, lost control before veering off the road and becoming submerged in the river.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Maroof Akinwande, said the agency received a distress call and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene.
He explained that firefighters arrived to find the vehicle completely submerged and promptly began rescue efforts.
Akinwande stated that the rescue team applied the necessary procedures and successfully recovered two victims from the vehicle.
He further disclosed that the bodies were handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Ogbere Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and necessary action.
