“The life machine was switched off”- Nigerian mother of 3 living abroad passes away on new year

As a Nigerian mother of three living overseas dies on New Year’s Day while on life support, condolences pour in. @Dhkurullah posted information on the sad event on X (previously Twitter).

The experience began when Damilola Balogun, the deceased mother, began complaining of severe migraines, according to @Dhkurullah.

She was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after testing showed that she had water on her brain.

Three days after having brain surgery, Damilola lapsed into a coma and was put on life support, according to the tweet that has received over 1.7 million views.

Resuscitation attempts failed despite the medical professionals’ best efforts, and on January 1, 2026, the life support was turned off.

Nevertheless, Damilola abandons her children, who are five months old, ten years old, and eleven years old.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to pay for her burial and funeral costs, support her children, and lessen the financial strain on the bereaved family.
