According to a report by Metro (UK) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, a 26-year-old Japanese K-pop influencer known online as sweeter_nk has reportedly died by suicide while broadcasting live on TikTok from her apartment in Seoul, South Korea, following intense online backlash from fellow fans.

Mina Chan, who was based in South Korea and had about 80,000 TikTok followers, was found dead at her home in Seoul’s Yongsan District at about 5:33am on Wednesday, August 5. Police reportedly became involved after her friends raised concerns about her during a TikTok livestream.

Her sister later confirmed her death in an emotional Instagram post, describing Mina as a kind and warm person and saying that the family was devastated by the loss.

Mina was a prominent fan influencer within the fanbase of K-pop group Enhypen and regularly attended the group’s concerts and fan events. She came under criticism following an incident at an Enhypen concert in the United States in July, when she reportedly attempted to give flowers to group member Ni-ki.

After she was unable to hand the flowers directly to Ni-ki, she reportedly gave them to another member, Sunoo, asking him to pass them on. The incident spread online, with some fans accusing her of behaving rudely toward the singer, while others criticised her reaction after the attempted gift exchange.

Ni-ki later spoke during a livestream about fans who, according to him, were more interested in getting the group’s attention than enjoying the concert. Although some fans interpreted his comments as referring to Mina, his official fan site reportedly denied that he was targeting any particular individual.

Mina subsequently apologised on social media and acknowledged that she had behaved inappropriately. She said that repeatedly attending Enhypen fan events had caused her to believe she was closer to the group members than she actually was, adding that she regretted her behaviour toward Sunoo and his fans.

The influencer reportedly faced increasing online harassment after the incident and eventually shut down her fan account on August 1. She later died days after the backlash intensified.

South Korean police have not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding her death or stated whether online harassment played a role. Reports indicate that an investigation is ongoing. It also remains unclear whether the online backlash was directly connected to her death.

Cyber defamation and public insult are criminal offences in South Korea and can attract imprisonment and significant fines.

Following Mina’s death, Enhypen continued its Blood Saga world tour, performing in Busan on Saturday, August 8. During the performance, Ni-ki addressed fans and spoke about the connection between the group and its fanbase.

Tributes have since been shared for Mina, although neither Enhypen nor Ni-ki has publicly commented on her reported death. Metro said it had contacted Enhypen’s representatives for a response.
