Ifunaya Nwagene, a rapidly rising Nigerian musician who just died after being bitten by a snake, has a tribute planned.
The 26-year-old singer was bitten by a snake at her home in Abuja, as GistReel earlier reported.
The vocalist was a member of the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society (AMEMUSO) choir, which announced the tribute on Facebook and requested registrations.
The homage is set on February 8, 2026, at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, around 6 p.m., according to a flyer attached to the post.
Earlier, the AMEMUSO choir shared a thorough description of Ifunaya Nwagene’s death, breaking their silence.
Ifunaya, a 26-year-old soprano vocalist, reportedly sent a panic message to the WhatsApp group at 10:13 am after getting bitten by a snake at her Abuja home, according to their Facebook post.
She died at 12:20 pm on January 31, 2026, despite efforts to save her, including the administration of anti-venom at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
Kingsley Nwangene, the brother of Ifunaya Nwagene, previously broke his silence on her death through a string of Instagram posts.
He disclosed that on January 31, 2026, at around 8:30 a.m., Ifunaya called him to let him know she had been bitten by a snake and was on her way to the hospital.
She died despite trying to get medical attention, and Kingsley accused the hospital of being careless and postponing treatment.
