Wahab Okoya, the son of a billionaire, has sparked controversy on social media by asserting that Nigeria has improved over the past three years and claiming that the government is not given enough credit for these obvious advancements.

According to Okoya, who made the statement in a public discussion, Nigerians who studied overseas and then came home can particularly see the differences.

He claims that as compared to prior years, there is a noticeable difference in the infrastructure, way of life, and overall atmosphere.

“If you compare Nigeria today to Nigeria three years ago, we are getting better,” Okoya said. “For us that go to school abroad and come back, the change is so visible. We are not giving the government enough credit.”

However, his remarks immediately provoked conflicting responses on the internet. Many Nigerians disagreed with his assessment, arguing that the bulk of people’s everyday lives are still characterised by economic hardship, growing living expenses, and insecurity.
