A woman’s account of a strange encounter she purportedly had while riding on a commercial tricycle—also referred to as a keke—involving a woman and her child has generated a lot of response online.
The woman claims that the strange experience happened after she consented to assist another female traveller in carrying her child. She clarified that, not realising that the scenario would soon take an unforeseen turn, she had naively held the youngster on her lap to make the ride more pleasant.
Recounting the encounter, the lady said, “I helped a woman to lap her child in a keke and when it was time for her to come down she denied her child claiming it was mine.”
The unexpected allegation allegedly perplexed many there, as the woman refused to accept the child when it was time to get off the trike, stating the youngster belonged to the lady who had been carrying the infant throughout the journey.
Although the lady did not reveal where the incident occurred or how the problem was subsequently addressed, her testimony instantly acquired popularity on social media due to its odd nature.
Many viewers were shocked, while others noted the incident serves as a lesson to be cautious while assisting strangers in public places.
The message has elicited conflicting emotions online, with many readers wondering why anyone would deny their own child, while others speculated on what may have inspired the woman’s claimed attitude.
Several comments sympathised with the lady, characterising her experience as terrifying and unexpected. Others warned Nigerians to remain careful in public settings, even when being polite to strangers, as the incident was discussed on social media.
