According to Nigerian musician 9ice, foreign prayers and religions have not made a substantial contribution to Nigeria’s progress.
Speaking at a recent event that Gold Myne TV covered, the performer questioned the efficacy of Christians’ and Muslims’ constant requests for prayer, particularly in view of the nation’s persistent security and economic difficulties.
He claims that despite years of religious dedication, not much progress has been made.
9ice, who identified as a pagan, also attacked Nigerians for their strong adherence to foreign religions like Islam and Christianity.
He maintained that Nigeria’s robust religious culture has not resulted in better living conditions or national development.
The artist went on to draw comparisons between Nigeria and nations like the UK, pointing out that civilisations with lower levels of religious observance seem to be more prosperous.
“You will leave Nigeria and go to Mecca to go and lick rock all in the name of Kabba. Ever since you have been calling on Allah and Jesus, this country hasn’t gotten any better. If you go to London, nobody goes to church there yet they are better than Nigeria.
“They go to work on Sundays but Nigerians go to church. A lot of Nigerians spend most their time in church in the name of weekly services. They pray over everything, including things to should fix themselves,” he said.
