“Killings must stop” – Pastor David Ibiyeomie warns government, urges Christians to embrace self-defense

Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries, has expressed concern over the increasing number of attacks on Christians in Nigeria and advised believers to take precautions in case the government does nothing.

The pastor’s remarks coincide with growing reports of violent assaults on Christian communities, churches, and worshippers throughout the Northern region, which have alarmed and alarmed locals.

Ibiyeomie emphasised in a recent sermon that Christians need to wake up and take responsibility for their own protection, using Israel as an example of a country that, despite being surrounded by enemies, refused to be wiped out.

He stressed that when political authorities are unable to offer sufficient security, self-defence may be required.

“Killing of Christians must stop in Nigeria. Christians need to wake up. Israel is a small nation and they didn’t allow Arabs to wipe them out. If government can’t defend you, defend yourself. Get yourself a walking stick,” he said.

He urged Nigerian Christians to adopt a same mindset for their own safety, emphasising how Israel’s alertness and preparedness to defend itself ensured the country survived adverse environments.

The pastor’s comments are a reflection of religious leaders’ dissatisfaction with what they perceive to be inadequate government action to stop attacks on churches and believers.
