Peter Obi criticises political system, calls for value-driven leadership

Concerned about Nigeria’s political situation, former presidential contender Peter Obi has called for a change to leadership based on accountability and morals.

Speaking about leadership and governance principles, Obi stressed that having a public office should be more than just a title or privilege; it should represent a life that is worthy of imitation.

Concerns were also expressed by him on what he perceived as attempts by the powerful to sway political outcomes and limit candidature.

The former governor of Anambra State emphasised the need for a more open and moral political system by cautioning that such actions could adversely affect the values of future generations.

“Do you know what it means to answer His Excellency? It means to live a life people can emulate. Now we are in a country where people in power don’t want me to be a particular party’s candidate. We need to end this kind of politics. What are these children going to learn from us? The lunåtics have taken over the asylum,” he said.
