A video of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu collapsing during a ceremonial greeting in Turkey has gone popular on the internet.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, when the President joined the guard of honour for a march past in his honour.
Tinubu briefly lost his footing, but he immediately recovered, and the event continued uninterrupted.
The short footage rapidly went viral on social media, gaining attention in both Nigeria and Turkey.
Turkish media captioned the video: “Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan’ın karşıladığı Nijerya Cumhurbaşkanı Bola Ahmed Tinubu yere düştü.”
According to reports, President Tinubu’s visit to Turkey aims to deepen the two countries’ longstanding diplomatic relationship.
The mission also aims to identify new areas of cooperation that will benefit both countries. Tinubu’s visit includes high-level talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The conversation will centre on trade, security, investment, and regional cooperation.
The schedule will also include the signing of various memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Nigeria and Turkey.
