A Nigerian man has shared details of how he returned ₦530,000 that was mistakenly transferred to his OPay account and disclosed the amount the sender offered him as a gesture of appreciation.

In a post on Facebook, Oba Handler revealed that the sender, a married man, asked him to keep ₦50,000 as a reward for his honesty.

Despite the offer, he said he chose to return the entire amount and later shared a message of appreciation he received from the sender.

According to the sender, he felt dizzy while carrying out the transaction but did not pay much attention to it at the time.

In the message, the sender wrote:

“You chose to do the right thing and for that, I’m deeply grateful. I honestly don’t know what to say except thank you”

Reflecting on the experience, Oba Handler said:

“The devil has a way of tempting people, especially in this broke period when mistakes like this happen”.
