A woman has gone viral on social media after sharing how she returned ₦50,000 to a POS operator after discovering that a transfer she made for a cash withdrawal had been reversed.
Her story has attracted praise from many social media users, with several commending her honesty and using the incident to discuss the importance of financial integrity.
According to her account, she transferred ₦50,000 to a POS operator while heading out to run errands because she did not have her ATM card with her at the time.
Later that evening, she noticed that her account balance was ₦50,000 more than she expected. After checking her transaction history, she realized that the earlier transfer had either failed or been reversed.
She explained that by the time she discovered the issue, the POS operator had already closed for the day. Concerned about the loss he might think he had incurred, she said she returned to his business location the following morning to refund the money.
The lady said:
“Please oh, yah00 boys in the house.. (a.k.a thièves).. how do you people do it? Yesterday, I made a 50k transfer to a POS man. I did this on my way to get some things as I didn’t have my card with me. I received an alert later in the evening, and the balance wasn’t corresponding. It was 50k higher than what I expected to have left in the account. Curious, I checked immediately and realised the 50k I earlier sent to that POS man either didn’t go through, or was reversed”
