A 50-year-old mother of four, identified as Farida, was reportedly found d3ad inside a giant python after she disappeared while on her way to a local market in Indonesia.
Farida, who lived in the Kalempang area, had reportedly travelled through a wooded area alone to reach the market, where she planned to sell farm produce.
When she failed to return home that evening, her worried husband, Noni, 55, reportedly organised a search party with neighbours to look for her.
The village head, Suardi Rosi, told AFP that Noni discovered some of his wife’s belongings during the search, raising suspicions that something had happened to her.
According to Rosi, villagers continued searching the area until they spotted a large python with an unusually swollen belly.
The villagers reportedly suspected that the snake had swallowed Farida and decided to cut it open.
“They agreed to cut open the python’s stomach. As soon as they did, Farida’s head was immediately visible.”
The search team reportedly used a machete to cut open the huge reptile, where they discovered Farida’s lifeless body still fully clothed.
Her body was subsequently removed from the python so that her family could give her a religious burial in the Pitu Riawa district of Sidrap Regency.
Farida’s husband expressed deep regret over allowing his wife to travel through the woods alone.
“I am forever sorry that I let my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her,” Noni said. “I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family.”
Locals Warned to Exercise Caution
It is believed that the python may have b!tten Farida on the leg before sw@llowing her. Locals reportedly believe she d!ed from suffocation and suffered a b!te injury to her limb.
Although Indonesia has recorded several previous incidents involving giant pythons att@cking humans, the village head said the incident was reportedly the first of its kind in Kalempang.
Suardi Rosi urged residents to exercise caution when travelling through wooded areas.
“We have warned everybody to be careful when they walk through the woods. Women should be accompanied by someone.”
