I’m among those marked by U.S for elimination – Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic cleric, has asserted that he is being targeted under the guise of being a terrorist affiliated with Boko Haram.

Gumi said that security sources had surreptitiously informed him about the accusation. He added that he learned of the situation through an early-morning phone call from an anonymous person in Abuja.

He claimed that the caller told him that his name had come up during discussions at a national security gathering, where the focus was purportedly on painting him as a terrorist.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the cleric revealed the information while speaking to members of his congregation.

“I received a call from a top official in Abuja informing me that I am among those marked by the us for elimination through an American airstrike, as part of Boko Haram. Northern leaders and clerics must speak up against these lies.” Gumi said.

Gumi also challenged popular narratives about terrorism in his statements, contending that the formation of rebel groups could be linked to the objectives and activities of international powers rather than regional religious leaders.

“Even Americans said they came to fight terrorists, so who are the terrorists? They are the ones,” he stated.
