A man has caused controversy on the internet by disclosing that his wife chose to go overseas by herself after he had earlier requested her to postpone her own relocation plans and stay in Nigeria to take care of his mother.
The man claimed that before to being married, he had lived with his mother. He and his spouse intended to apply for UK visas after the wedding in order to move there together.
He said, however, that his mother was worried about living alone and wanted his wife to stay behind to keep her company.
He urged his wife to postpone her holiday plans while he moved first because he thought it was the finest option.
The man said, “Later, I asked her to put her plans on hold so I could travel first while she stayed behind to take care of my mom.”
He clarified that the couple stopped talking about the issue after they got into a fight over it.
Later, he added, “Now, she has suddenly told me that she has gotten her visa and plans to travel instead. She said I should stay behind to take care of my mother, and that once she settles abroad, she’ll visit us often.”
He further asked, “Is it a bad thing as a man to instruct my own wife on what to do?”
Many people have expressed differing opinions about whether the husband’s request was fair or reasonable in response to the post.
While some contended that taking care of ageing parents is a shared family duty, others insisted that it was unfair to expect a new bride to give up on her own relocation ambitions.
Discussions on marriage, family expectations, and striking a balance between spousal obligations and responsibilities to aged parents are still sparked by the story.
