A woman from Northern Nigeria has spoken out about the supposed financial losses she has experienced in the agriculture industry since President Bola Tinubu took office in 2023.
She said in a video posted on X (previously Twitter) that the loss of her funds, which she believed to be over ₦35 million, was caused by increased production costs, falling grain prices, and farmer insecurity.
She claims that one of the reasons she is adamant that Tinubu should be defeated in the 2027 presidential race is the financial loss.
Read what she said below:
“When I say Tinubu must be voted out, many don’t understand my pain and anger. I lost about ₦35 million and my life savings in the agric sector when Tinubu became President.
The cost of production tripled, and then, because of Tinubu’s policies like allowing the importation of grains into Nigeria, the prices of grains we struggled so hard to produce crashed, and we couldn’t sell.”
She further said that farmers were compelled to avoid their farms due to insecurity and kidnapping in farming villages.
Then the high level of insecurity and kidnapping made us stay away from our farms. I lost millions. And since 2023 till date, it’s been loss upon loss,” she added.
The woman’s remarks have sparked conversations on the difficulties farmers face in the face of growing production costs, unpredictability, and price swings for agricultural commodities.
Her assertions reflect her personal narrative of the financial challenges she has had since 2023, even though she blamed her losses on policies implemented during the Tinubu administration.
