Before their international friendly, which is set for today, March 27, 2026, the Ghana national football team has reportedly been the target of a suspected r0bbery at their training camp in Vienna.

The senior national team of Ghana started training on Monday after starting camp on Sunday.

Two players reported that their $20,000 Rolex watches had been stolen on Wednesday, March 25, following their third session. A member of the technical team also found that $2,250 in cash was missing the next day.

Team officials immediately involved local authorities, but efforts to review security footage were hindered after hotel management cited faulty cameras.

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, said preliminary reports indicate that the CCTV cameras at the hotel where the team was staying were not operational during the incident, a matter now under thorough police review.

“They are working to carry out the investigation. The initial report we have is that the CCTV was not functioning, and the police are checking when it stopped working and who was responsible for the hotel’s surveillance system at that time,” Adams said.

Despite the unsettling events, the Black Stars are set to face Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion this evening, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
