Ex-defence minister Badaru rejects defection rumours, affirms loyalty to APC

Mohammed Badaru, a former minister of defence, has denied rumours that he plans to switch from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling them completely baseless.

According to reports, the rumours originate from alleged conflicts between Badaru and Governor Umar Namadi within the APC’s Jigawa State chapter. According to sources, some Badaru-supporting party members feel excluded from decision-making, which has led to speculation about potential defections.

Badaru acted swiftly to refute the narratives despite the ongoing internal conflicts, demonstrating his dedication to the party he assisted in founding.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Mati Ali, Badaru said, “The reports circulating about my defection are false and politically motivated. My loyalty to the APC remains unwavering.”

He urged party members and the general public to ignore unsubstantiated accusations and stressed that he has no plans to join another political platform.“I remain a dedicated member of the APC and fully committed to the party’s ideals,” he added.

Badaru’s clarification could assist to alleviate tensions inside the state party and promote reconciliation ahead of impending political activity.

Party sources believe the former minister’s statement is a planned move to reassure stakeholders and maintain unity, preventing internal issues from jeopardising the APC’s stability in Jigawa State.

With the party gearing up for the next political cycle, Badaru’s reaffirmation of commitment comes at a vital time, conveying a message that internal cohesion remains a priority for APC officials.
