Everton are close to agreeing with Chelsea on the permanent signing of Nigeria-eligible forward Tyrique George, as the club reshapes its roster ahead of the next Premier League season.

The Merseyside club is in negotiations with Chelsea about signing the 19-year-old attacker, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park.

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, negotiations between the two teams are progressing, with Everton hoping to complete the trade during the summer window.

George joined Everton on loan in January 2026 after struggling to get first-team opportunities at Chelsea, despite emerging into the senior squad during the 2024/25 season.

Although the kid did not score in 11 Premier League outings for Everton, the club’s coaching staff believes he has the potential to develop into a crucial player in the future.

Manager David Moyes is said to be a big fan of the dynamic forward, viewing him as a long-term investment rather than a player to be judged purely on his brief loan tenure.

A permanent move would allow George to continue his development with more consistent first-team football, something he struggled to achieve at Chelsea due to fierce competition for attacking positions.

Everton are also eager to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for another Premier League season, with George seen as a man who can provide versatility across the front line while progressing with consistent game time.

The move may potentially have international repercussions. While George has represented England at the youth level, he is still eligible to play for Nigeria because he has yet to appear in a competitive senior match for England.
