A single Nigerian man, Ebube Israel, has questioned what he described as a growing preference among some women to remain single rather than get married.

Ebube shared his experience on a matchmaking platform after approaching a 30-year-old woman in Port Harcourt, who he claimed told him she preferred becoming a single mother to getting married.

‘She doesn’t want anyone to tie her down.’

According to Ebube, the woman explained that she did not see marriage as necessary, arguing that she could have children without being married.

He wrote:

“A lady I approached openly told me that she prefers to be a single mother over getting married; after all, na d same knacking she goes to collect for marriage. She doesn’t want anyone to tie her down.

“Like a lady of 30 years saying this in Port Harcourt. I was shocked.

“Does it mean men can’t find wives anymore?”

The man’s post has sparked conversations online about changing attitudes toward marriage, single parenthood, and relationships among young Nigerians.
