Doctor shares story of ending relationship over PCOS, says ex now has three children

A physician has related a personal experience of terminating a relationship because of fertility issues related to PCOS.

He claimed that the woman he was dating had a severe case of PCOS and a major hormonal imbalance; she only had a two-day menstrual cycle once a year.

He claimed that after obtaining medical advice, he concluded that she had a very slim probability of becoming pregnant—less than 5%.

“I struggled with the emotional weight of possibly facing long-term fertility challenges if they got married,” the doctor explained.

He acknowledged that he was unprepared for the burden of waiting for a kid, which he described as both mental and spiritual.

Following what he characterised as a challenging but candid chat, he ultimately ended the relationship.

But years later, he disclosed, the woman gave birth to three children, an event that he said made him see how unpredictable life can be.

“I ended a relationship with a woman because she was dealing with severe PCOS and significant hormonal imbalance.

She only had her period once a year, and it would last for just two days. We sought medical help, but the results were very discouraging.

As a medical doctor, I understood that her chances of conceiving were extremely low, less than 5%.

I had to ask myself whether I was prepared for the emotional and mental strain of waiting and hoping if we eventually got married.

I wasn’t ready to face the ongoing stress, moving from one prayer program to another, all in the hope of having a child.

One day, I sat her down and told her I needed to end the relationship. It was difficult and emotional at first, but eventually, we were able to reach a place of understanding.

That wasn’t even the end of the story. Guess what? She now has three children. Life truly has a way of surprising us.”
