AFCON 2025: Fulham fans arrive Morocco to back Iwobi, Bassey, Chukwueze against Mozambique

A group of Fulham fans went from London to Morocco to support Nigeria’s Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze ahead of Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 match against Mozambique.

The fans, who came in Fes prior to the knockout match, stated that their trip was prompted by adoration for the Nigerian trio as well as a general commitment to the Super Eagles.

They also watched Nigeria’s initial group-stage encounter against Tanzania from home earlier this season.

Speaking with Nigerian writer Ademola Victor, supporters praised Iwobi, Bassey, and Chukwueze as standout performers who they wanted to support as they represented Nigeria on the continental stage.

They projected that the Super Eagles would defeat Mozambique by two goals and advance to the quarterfinals.

Nigeria enters the knockout stage with confidence, having scored eight goals in three Group C games, one of the best attacking records in the group stages.

The Super Eagles are among the tournament favourites, but they are still under pressure to advance to the final stages.

The match versus Mozambique is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. local time at the Fez Stadium, with a spot in the quarter-finals on the line. Nigeria’s campaign will be cut short if they were defeated.

Aside from fan support, performance-based bonuses have been implemented to provide further motivation.

Nigerian players would earn $10,000 (roughly ₦14 million) for each goal scored against Mozambique, twice the incentive granted in the group stage.

The bonus package is being paid by a Nigerian businessman who is also a partner of the national team, following a reward structure set earlier in the competition.
