Coach Didier Deschamps has cautioned his players not to underestimate Sweden despite France’s outstanding performance.

“Sweden are not playing for their survival. Obviously, they will do everything to win the game, but they have nothing to lose.”

He added: “We need to stay humble, maintain our determination and concentration. In the group stage, winning the first game gave us some margin for error, but now we have no second chances.”

Sweden finished third in Group F with four points, advancing to the knockout stage. They defeated Tunisia 5-1 to start, then lost badly to the Netherlands and drew 1-1 with Japan.

Sweden is committed to extending their competition, according to captain Victor Lindelöf.

William Saliba is anticipated to return to defence for France, despite Marcus Thuram’s injury and N’Golo Kanté’s continued doubt. Isak Hien, a defender, will be absent from Sweden.
