A Nigerian woman who previously alleged that she was r@ped by Singapore-based Nigerian footballer Victor Ebele has retracted the accusation and apologised to him and his family.

In 2025, Chioma Oniniwu took to X to accuse Ebele of r@pe, while also alleging that members of his family, including his mother and sister, had hara$$ed her after she sought justice.

She also called out Victor Ebele’s more prominent brother, professional footballer Frank Ebele, accusing him of protecting his brother.

At the time, Chioma further alleged that police officers bullied her when she went to the station to report the incident.

However, the matter took a different turn after Chioma was arrested on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and subsequently charged to court and remanded. She has since been granted bail.

Amid the legal proceedings, Chioma returned to X on Saturday, August 29, 2026, to withdraw her previous allegation and issue an apology.

In her statement, she admitted that Victor Ebele did not r@pe her and said she had made the accusation while going through a difficult period.

She wrote:

“Victor Jr Ebele did not r@pe me, I was going through a difficult time and so frightened I took laws into my hands and wrongly accused him. I recognize how this has affected not just him but his family and I am deeply sorry @FCT_PoliceNG.”

Her latest statement marks a significant reversal of the allegation she made about 11 months earlier, with the circumstances surrounding the case now subject to the ongoing legal process.
