According to a report by the Times of Israel on Thursday October 1, 2026, US President Donald Trump says he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the reported attempted hijacking of a flydubai flight carrying Israeli passengers.
Trump said Netanyahu and others briefed him on the incident, including claims that the aircraft was deliberately sent into a nosedive before someone on board managed to regain control.
The US president said the suspect’s motives were still unclear and suggested he could have been a terrorist or simply an individual acting irrationally.
“I don’t know if it’s true, but that’s the story that I got from Bibi and from a couple of other people,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump said he had been told that the copilot wanted to crash the aircraft, although he acknowledged that the information had not been independently established.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine exactly what happened aboard the flight and why the aircraft reportedly went into a dangerous descent.
Trump’s comments came shortly after flydubai announced that it was suspending flights to and from Israel while the investigation continues.
