A woman identified as Safiya Usaini has been arraigned before a Kano Magistrates’ Court for allegedly k!lling and b3heading her co-wife after accusing her of spying on her while she was in the bathroom.

The suspect was brought before the court, presided over by Magistrate Auwal Yusuf, following the completion of a police investigation into the alleged incident.

Court Declines Jurisdiction Over Murder Case

Prosecuting counsel, Barrister Muhammad Aliyu Umar, presented the suspect before the court and read the charge of culpable h0micide to her.

However, the court declined to proceed with the matter after determining that it lacked jurisdiction to hear a mu√der case.

The prosecutor subsequently requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution to obtain legal advice from the government on the appropriate next step.

The court granted the request and adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further mention. It also ordered that the accused be remanded in a correctional centre pending further proceedings.

According to the allegation, Safiya Usaini att@cked and b3headed her co-wife, Safiya Saleh, with a machete in Loko, Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspect was allegedly angered by accusations that her co-wife had been spying on her while she was using the bathroom.
