In an effort to support Nigeria’s continuous counterterr0rism and security operations, the US government has provided vital military supplies to the Federal government.
The supplies were formally turned over to Nigerian authorities in Abuja, according to a statement released on Tuesday, January 13 by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) on its verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasises our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM said, tagging the United States Mission in Nigeria, @USinNigeria.
The delivery, according to the command, demonstrated the US government’s ongoing dedication to fortifying its security cooperation with Abuja.
The most recent aid coincides with a renewed effort by Nigeria and its foreign allies to combat ongoing insecurity in various parts of the nation, especially terr0√ism and v!0lent extremism in the North East and North West.
The Tinubu administration requested in November 2025 that the United States government send troops to Nigeria to help fight terrorism in a number of states. In response to the United States’ designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed the appeal.”
Following that request, an airstrike was conducted on December 25, 2025, in coordination with Nigerian authorities. The joint operation reportedly targeted terrorist strongholds in the country’s North West.
