Trump Threatens to Jail Journalist Who Leaked Information About the Missing Servicemen in Iran

According to a report by Sky News on Monday, April 6, 2026, United States President Donald Trump has said his administration is intensifying efforts to identify the source of a leak involving sensitive details about a military operation in Iran, warning that journalists could face jail time if they refuse to cooperate.

Speaking during a press briefing, Trump expressed anger over the disclosure of information relating to US servicemen who had been involved in a high-risk rescue mission. According to the president, the leak revealed that a second service member was still missing after an initial rescue had already taken place.

Trump claimed the disclosure may have compromised the operation by alerting Iranian authorities. “All of a sudden, they know that there’s somebody out there,” he said, suggesting that the leak made it easier for Iranian forces to intensify their search efforts. “They see all these planes coming in. It became a much more difficult operation because a leaker leaked that we have one we’ve rescued one but there’s another one out there that we’re trying to get.”

The president described the leak as a serious breach of national security and insisted that his administration is determined to track down those responsible. He indicated that authorities may take direct action against the media organisation that published the information.

“We think we’ll be able to find it out,” Trump said. “Because we’re going to go to the media company that released it, and we’re going to say, ‘National security, give it up or go to jail.’”

However, Trump did not name the media outlet in question, leaving uncertainty about which organisation may face potential legal action.

Trump, however, maintained that the leak had serious consequences, asserting that it placed American personnel at significant risk. “They put the mission at great risk,” he said.
