Moyo Lawal, a Nollywood actress, uploaded an emotional video on Instagram only days before her birthday, speaking up about a traumatic personal incident that she had kept private for a long time.

In the video, the actress revealed that she had intentionally avoided interviews and public conversations, preferring to grieve quietly with her family and close friends.

According to her, she chose to speak now to alter a narrative that she claims has unfairly followed her and to support other women in similar situations.

Moyo Lawal stated that she had been contacted by several young ladies who informed her that they were struggling emotionally and feeling overwhelmed by shame and dread as a result of emotional manipulation and threats in their relationships.

She insisted that such disgrace did not belong to the victims and was never their fault. The actress shared her own experience, revealing that when she tried to end a relationship, she was blamed for what happened and accused of instigating it because she refused to post about her boyfriend on social media.

She claimed she was warned that if he couldn’t have her, no one else would want her, which she described as extremely hurtful.

Moyo Lawal revealed that for years, she escaped inside her cinematic roles, numbing herself to her real-life agony. However, she stated that she has decided to “flip the switch” and begin living entirely as herself, rather than through roles or identities.
