A Nigerian guy has talked candidly about the fallout from telling his family about his new job and salary.

He revealed that his mother called him following the receipt of his first pay cheque in a post on his X handle, @Themrbachelor.

In addition to congratulating him on the accomplishment, his mother told him about his younger brother’s N30,000 in educational costs.

‎”My mom called to congratulate me, ending the call with: “Your brother needs ₦30,000 for textbooks, and I told him not to worry, that his big brother now works in a big company“, He stated, recounting the phone conversation ended.

Seventy percent of his first salary was set aside for family expenses, and he spent the entire month walking and eating cheap meals in an effort to cut costs.

But when he contacted his mother to let her know about his financial predicament, she erupted in laughter.

In the meantime, he sat in his room and stared at his empty pot, wondering how his family had assumed he was a millionaire.

“He sat in my room looking at my empty pot, wondering how I became a millionaire only in my family’s imagination”He added.
