SWAP captures 18 wives of Boko haram as they engage in bloody fight in Borno

Following a deadly encounter in Borno State’s Bama Local Government Area, two competing terrorist organisations, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, popularly known as Boko Haram, have rekindled internal conflict.

According to security officials, the clash took place at a spot known as “Markas” in the council area.

According to sources, the incident occurred at 3:41 p.m. on April 28, when ISWAP fighters apprehended 18 spouses of JAS members.

According to reports, the development occurred as a result of ongoing battles between the two factions, which resulted in the loss of dependents on both sides.

The sources told Zagagola Makama that intelligence monitoring is underway, with indications that the internal conflict has degraded coordination among the terrorist groups operating in the area.

They further stated that forces stationed in the sector and surrounding areas are anticipated to take advantage of the infighting to reduce the operational strength of the groups.

According to the sources, security agencies are actively monitoring the situation and will provide further details as it unfolds.
