Nigerian singer Ruger has been absent from the music scene due to an ongoing legal dispute, according to a statement released by his record label.

The label explained that the “Bounce” singer stepped away from public activities after becoming involved in a lawsuit filed by a former girlfriend. The ex-partner reportedly accused him of causing “emotional distress” and sought damages.

Part of the statement read: “Ruger was caught up in a series of personal challenges after someone he dated decided to sue him for alleged ‘emotional distress’ and ‘damages.’”

The record label also stated that the singer is expected to make his return to the music scene in August.
