A beautiful moment between a father and his son has elicited emotional responses online after a bus passenger posted what they witnessed during a phone call.
According to the witness, the event occurred while riding on public transit when a guy sitting close received a call from his son, who seemed dissatisfied with life after finishing the National Youth Service Corps.
The young man was apparently regretting the challenges he had encountered since completing his service year.
The passenger noted the young man sounded overwhelmed as he discussed the difficulties of obtaining stability after NYSC. Like many Nigerian grads, he appeared concerned about the uncertainties of his future.
As the talk progressed, the father listened attentively before responding calmly, capturing the attention of people nearby.
In a sympathetic tone, the father advised his son not to be concerned about his predicament.
“Shola, come back home. I didn’t send you out of my house, you chose to stay out. Come back home and let’s replan. You’re just 22,” the father reportedly said.
The statements were noted as calming, soothing, and full of understanding.
The bus rider who witnessed the conversation stated the interaction nearly brought them to tears, pointing out how soothing the father’s response was.
The story has subsequently resonated with many people online, with some complimenting the parent for demonstrating empathy and reminding young people that life’s difficulties can be overcome with sufficient assistance and preparedness.
