“She was told kneeling to greet parents…” – Muslim father explains why he withdrew daughter from Islamic school

After disclosing the reasons behind his daughter’s alleged withdrawal from an Islamic school, a Nigerian man caused a stir on social media.

In an Instagram post, @eye_opener220 said that he was worried when his daughter came home from school one day and passed him and her mother without saying hello in the polite way she had grown up.

Recounting the incident, read what he said below:

“I withdrew my daughter from an Islamic school after she came home and refused to greet us properly. She said her teacher told them that kneeling to greet parents is a sin and could lead to hellfire.”

The father expressed concern about the incident and returned to the school to seek clarification from the teacher.

However, he was disappointed with the teacher’s response, claiming the teaching was based on religious beliefs.

“At that moment, I knew I had a serious problem because that was a red flag. I took her back to the school and confronted the teacher. The response was simply, ‘Sorry, that’s what the religion says.’

“To me, that was a clear sign of a culture being taken away from our children. I am a Muslim and a proud Yoruba man,” he added.

He went on to say that respect for elders is still an important component of Yoruba society and that religion teachings should not undermine healthy cultural norms that foster respect and good conduct.

His views have elicited conflicting reactions online, with some supporting his position on preserving traditional values and others arguing that religion and culture should be treated independently.
