Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara state, has instructed Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to clarify his political stance regarding his membership in the Rainbow Coalition, stating that he is unable to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties at the same time.

Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, has been involved with the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party political organization that seeks to rally support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign.

Lawal stated that Wike needs to decide where his political allegiance lies in an interview with Channels Television on the fringes of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“Our message is very very clear, be on one side, you can’t be on two sides. If you are in APC, please come out and support the APC, not you are supporting APC here and you are supporting some other political parties somewhere else. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not done anywhere.

We maintain our stand and the message is very clear. He can speak, he can say whatever he wants to say, but our position has been very clear, APC all the way from head to toe,” he said.

When asked if the governors were effectively asking Wike to join the APC, Lawal responded, “Exactly.”

“When the President returns, I will talk to him about it. Let’s make it obvious who this guy belongs to. Simply put, he is either in or out of APC. I therefore accompany my brothers, the governors.
