Protesters took to the streets of Durban and Johannesburg on June 30 to demonstrate against illegal immigration, with police present to monitor the situation. Participants waved South African flags and sang songs calling for undocumented foreigners to leave the country.

The protests come amid growing tensions across South Africa, prompting some businesses to shut down and many foreign nationals to stay away from work due to concerns that the demonstrations could become violent.

As they marched through the streets, protesters carried sticks and sang songs of solidarity in their local dialect.

Meanwhile, several countries have begun evacuating their citizens from South Africa. More than 500 Nigerians have reportedly been evacuated, while another 500 are said to remain in the country.
