President Trump admits he wouldn’t pay the astronomical prices for World Cup tickets

Donald Trump has admitted that he would not personally pay the high ticket prices being charged for this summer’s FIFA World Cup 2026 matches.

Speaking in an interview with the New York Post, Trump reacted to reports that the cheapest ticket for the opening match involving the United States men’s national soccer team against Paraguay in Los Angeles was around $1,000.

“I would certainly like to be there, but I wouldn’t pay it either, to be honest with you,” Trump said after learning about the reported prices.

He also expressed concern that ordinary supporters may be priced out of attending games, saying he would be disappointed if everyday Americans, including many of his supporters, could not afford to go.

Meanwhile, Gianni Infantino has faced criticism over the rising cost of tickets. Infantino reportedly defended the pricing structure by comparing it to the cost of attending major sporting events in the United States, although critics challenged those claims by pointing to far cheaper ticket options for other professional sports events.

The tournament, which will be hosted across United States, Canada, and Mexico, has already generated massive demand, with FIFA reportedly receiving hundreds of millions of ticket requests.

Reports also suggest that some resale listings for the final at MetLife Stadium reached extremely high prices online, further fueling debate over affordability and access for regular fans.
