Police arrest mother and daughter over N18m romance sc@m

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) has arrested a mother and daughter over an alleged romance sc@m said to have defrauded a Malta-based victim of more than ₦18 million.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, by DSP Unwana Imah, the suspects were identified as 39-year-old Urowhe Diana and her 22-year-old daughter, Rokibat Oluwasheyi Imoru.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that a Lagos resident identified as Emmanuel Amanfo—described as Rokibat’s stepfather and currently at large—allegedly conspired with the younger suspect to open and operate multiple bank accounts used for fraudulent transactions.

Investigators further alleged that proceeds from the sc@m were transferred through money transfer services and direct deposits into several Nigerian bank accounts linked to Rokibat.

According to the police, the funds were later moved into an Ecobank account belonging to Urowhe Diana, where the money was allegedly spent.
