Zekeri Idris, a political analyst and supporter of the opposition, has commented on President Bola Tinubu’s chances ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election and voiced his backing for Peter Obi.

During a September 30, 2026, appearance on SYMFONI, Zekeri criticised the current administration, citing economic difficulties affecting Nigerians and questioning how actively the President has engaged with issues within the country.

According to him, public frustration over economic conditions has reduced support for the APC government and could create opportunities for opposition parties to form a stronger challenge in the next election.

Zekeri said he believed Tinubu faced serious political difficulties ahead of 2027 and predicted that an opposition alliance could defeat the ruling party.

Discussing Peter Obi, he described the former Labour Party candidate as someone who would maintain a stronger connection with citizens and provide more visible leadership.
