In keeping with the Federal Government’s desire for digital testing, the Oyo State Government has affirmed that it is prepared to introduce the Computer-Based Test (CBT) method for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Olusegun Olayiwola, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, told officials during a meeting on Friday that the state intends to purchase more than 60,000 laptops for public senior secondary schools in accordance with Governor Seyi Makinde’s directive.

“Governor Makinde has instructed that the budgetary implications for the laptops be fully worked out,” Olayiwola said.

He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to stopping test misconduct and damage of school property, and he commended WAEC for taking a proactive stance in resolving issues from the 2025 examinations.

Mr. Waheed Amode, WAEC’s Zonal Coordinator and Deputy Registrar, paid a visit to Olayiwola to express gratitude to the state ministry for its assistance with the earlier exams.

Amode stated that both CBT and conventional pen-and-paper forms will be used for the 2026 May/June tests, and that registration for the exams ended on February 2, 2026.

Teachers and principals were advised to uphold their moral character and make sure that exams were administered smoothly throughout the state.
