A Nigerian woman has sparked outrage online after revealing an unexpected meeting with a considerably younger man.
In a popular video posted on X (previously Twitter), @thebeninblogger described how a 19-year-old kid contacted her and indicated interest in a relationship.
“Boys are very corrupt these days. I’m surprised. Just look at me, as old as I am, a 19-year-old boy walked up to me and said, ‘Mama, I like you.’ I was like, what? He said, ‘Mama, be calming down, I will handle you well and take care of you,’” she said.
Clearly taken aback by the event, the woman questioned the development of young males today, questioning if parents are still performing their jobs efficiently.
She went on to voice her amazement at the teenager’s level of bravado, stating that such confidence from someone so young raises questions about values and discipline in the younger generation.
“Is it that parents are not doing their jobs? Or are fathers and mothers not doing their jobs well? Because how can a boy have so much confidence?” she added.
Her speech has elicited diverse reactions online, with many Nigerians holding opposing views on age dynamics and modern dating behaviour.
One user wrote, “This generation no get fear again 😅,” while another commented, “Parenting has really changed for real.”
