Osimhen inspires Galatasaray win over Alanyaspor with goal, assist

Victor Osimhen scored and assisted as Galatasaray defeated Alanyaspor 3-1 in Saturday’s Super Lig match, increasing their lead at the top of the standings.

The Nigerian forward was instrumental in a closely contested battle, bringing up the second goal before securing the victory late on.

Galatasaray now has 58 points, five more than Fenerbahce, and Trabzonspor is two points behind in third place.

Galatasaray seized the lead just before halftime, with Sacha Boey finishing off a fluid team play to make it 1-0.

Alanyaspor rallied four minutes after the restart, with Steve Mounie scoring to tie the game and temporarily change the tide.

The hosts recovered control before the hour mark. Osimhen attempted an overhead kick inside the area, and the loose ball fell to Lucas Torreira, who scored decisively to restore the lead to 2-1.

Osimhen then scored in the 83rd minute, capitalising on custodian Paulo Victor’s blunder.

Intercepting a mishandled ball, the striker rounded the goalie and scored into an empty net to seal the victory.

The result boosts Galatasaray’s position in the title race and keeps the pressure on their nearest competitors. Both teams will face off again in the Turkish Cup on Tuesday, with Alanyaspor hoping to react.
