Dan Orbih, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), passed away. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike lamented his passing, calling the late politician a true friend, devoted political comrade, and successful politician.

According to reports, Orbih, the 64-year-old PDP National Vise Chairman for the South-South, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.

In response to Orbih’s passing, Wike expressed his profound sorrow, calling him “a friend indeed” and one of Edo State’s most influential politicians.

Wike expressed his condolences via Lere Olayinka, his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, saying Orbih’s passing was both personal and devastating.

Wike said, “I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political association.”

He also acknowledged the difficulty of accepting the loss, adding, “But we can’t question God. He gives, and He takes.”

Wike also expressed his sympathies to the deceased’s family and political acquaintances, describing him as a wonderful friend, a terrific politician, and a man of religion.

He said, “On behalf of myself, my family and political associates, I commiserate with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih on the demise of Chief Dan Orbih, a good friend, a great politician and a man of faith in the Almighty God. May his soul rest in peace.”

Orbih’s children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his siblings and other relatives, survive him.
