OAU 400-level medical student d!es moments before final exam

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state, has been thrown into grief when a 400-level medical student named Adewole Emmanuel died after reportedly collapsing seconds before his final session exam.

The Ife University Medical Students Association (IFUMSA) issued a statement announcing Emmanuel’s death on Thursday, April 22.

Read the statement below;

“Under the cover of dark clouds, we write to you with the heaviest of hearts to inform you of the passing of one of our own, an integral part of the association and a solid pillar of his class,”

The deceased was characterised by the association as “a colleague, friend, flatmate, and a Part 4 medical student with an undeniably bright future until the time of his passing”.

“This incident is not only tragic, but also extremely painful, as we have lost a rising star and a beloved member of the IFUMSA family. In honouring his fondest memories, we respectfully request that the general public refrain from conjecture and respect the family’s privacy during this delicate time.”

A fellow medical student @to37867_toyyib, who lamented the deceased on his X account, claimed that the ambulance that arrived when the deceased collapsed had no stretcher or oxygen.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
