“Now he wants me for…” – Woman questions father’s return after rejecting her for being a girl child

A Nigerian woman has generated outrage online after describing her tragic past and the difficult situation she is now in.

According to her, her father rejected her at birth since she was a girl, leaving her to be raised by her grandmother.

Read her words below:

“My father rejected me at birth because I was a girl. He refused to even look at me and left me with my grandmother when I was just three months old.”

She added that her grandma raised her alone, and she never had the opportunity to develop a bond with her parents before losing her mother.

She went through many personal problems over the years, including a failed marriage and the death of her kid, all without her father’s presence or support.

“Now my father has suffered a stroke and is asking to see me. Everyone expects me to step in and take responsibility for him, but I am deeply conflicted and don’t know what to do,” she added.

Many people reacted, with some encouraging her to forgive and show compassion, while others argued that she is not bound to care for someone who abandoned her.

The narrative has inspired broader discussions about forgiveness, accountability, and whether children owe their missing parents care later in life.
