Davido, an Afrobeats superstar, has spoken out following reports of a heated custody dispute over his daughter, Imade.
Earlier reports said the singer had an outburst during the proceedings.
Taking to social media, Davido dismissed several circulating narratives as false, stating that he never requested full custody.
“I never asked for full custody… I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade… so I don’t know why some people are celebrating… there’s nothing to celebrate.”

According to him, the legal action was only taken to ensure shared parenting rights.
However, tensions allegedly escalated in court after the opposing counsel mentioned his late son, Ifeanyi, which Davido described as “the lowest blow.””
The singer said the mention of his deceased child deeply hurt him and triggered his emotional reaction.
He also accused the lawyer involved of misconduct and said he felt disrespected during the proceedings. Despite everything, Davido revealed he has now decided to withdraw the custody case entirely.
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her… let’s move on. One love!”

His statement has since sparked massive reactions online. While many fans sympathised with him, others urged both parties to prioritise Imade’s well-being and handle future matters privately.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the opposing legal team.
